DOT A DOT
This season, the polka dot print is XXL, look for enlarged circles in contrasting shades (or not!). Black and white is a classic, while red and white calls for attention and brown and black is a sophisticated pairing seeking its place in the sun. Max Mara is all about elegance with dark orbs stamping its tailored creations; be inspired by them!

To the nines:
Wear full-on spots to ace the trend!

IT’S (NOT) A MAN’S WORLD
In the 1920s, trousers became an acceptable option in women’s wardrobes (in some parts of the globe at least). Almost a hundred years later, we’ve truly conquered this garment and suits are a smart option for ladies worldwide. And the suit is not just for the office environment — a nice, tailored or funky duo can be an interesting replacement for your evening gown.

To the nines: When picking a suit, don’t forget to pair it with lots of attitude and confidence.

METALLIC BLUSH
Shiny elements have become a mandatory trend each season, but this time it goes beyond silver and gold, let your girly pinkish elements sparkle! Colours such rose and bubble gum paint textured materials like satin, lamé and velvet for an eye-catching effect. Marc Jacobs’ collection plays with the pink palette with an added pinch of shimmer. Do you dare to glare?

To the nines: Play with different tones of pink when putting your look together for a shot of pizzazz.

BABY BLUE
With every season comes its favourite colours. Yellow is always a favourite at this time of the year and, along with it we find, a not always so popular shade – baby blue! This ‘cold’ hue was detected in many catwalk shows and in some collections it stole the spotlight with jaw-dropping appearances. Check out Chanel, Marc Jacobs and Giorgio Armani shows for exciting designs.

To the nines: The faded pigment works well as the base of your look, forget black trousers and go for blanched azure ones!

TRENDY DIY

This pattern became popular in the ‘60s amongst the flower power generation and, since then, has never left the fashion scene completely. The tie-dying technique is simple and easily done at home (you’ll find many tutorials on YouTube!). The results are, most commonly, original spirals and mandalas. Tie-dye is a casual print, however, high-end brands elevate its status when applying it in handbags and lavish dresses.

To the nines: Pair a cotton T-shirt with tailored white trousers, high heels and elegant accessories for an out-of-the-box look.

SURF’S UP
Summer is synonymous with the beach and holidays. Having clothes created to fit with this vibe makes a lot of sense. Not just any beach though, but Californian ones where the surf community gets together for sportive and stylish days on the sand. Tanned bodies in vibrant prints covered in sunset colours. Look for neoprene or dry-fit materials to best embrace the concept.

To the nines: Mix and match sober pieces with elements from this water-sport-inspired trend for a snazzy twist.

GET KNOTTED
The fashion world relies heavily on craftsmanship in its creations and, this time, the star of the show is macramé. Made of a sequence of knots, this craft skill can be weaved in many ways, but fishnet seems to be the one designers are most interested in. Tops, dresses and handbags are the popular pieces featuring this hollowed knit. You can look refined in Christian Dior or laid-back with Phillip Lim.

To the nines: Choose a long fishnet dress and throw it on top of a spaghetti strap dress or bikini.

UNDER THE SEA
Staying with the beach theme, designers looked to the ocean to find inspiration for their accessories. Starfish, shells and fish are the main bits to look for. Rings, necklaces and belts are adorned with delicate sea creatures to be carried with you even when the holidays are over and it’s time to go back to a busy city routine.

To the nines: Add that sun and sand sensation to your office wardrobe with opulent rings. Michael Kors has eye-catching pieces that can’t be missed.
