Editor’s Note – March 2024

Welcome to another fabulous edition of Woman This Month, which is proudly a separate publication once again!

As a young tween, and then teenager, I would eagerly wait for my monthly allowance to buy magazines and novels. Pictures of my favourite musicians and actors would be ripped out and pasted on my walls and I’d read every magazine from cover to cover. Woman This Month, believe it or not, was among these publications seeing as the first edition was published in 2003. Journalism and story-telling soon came naturally to me, but if you’d ever told me “Farah, someday you’ll be writing your first ever editor’s letter for Woman This Month.” I’d love the thought of it but probably would not believe you. Now the moment is here and it’s surreal.

My point here is that with this edition, celebrating International Women’s Day, we get to tell the stories of other incredible women that were once little girls with big dreams and aspirations too. They have persevered, contributed to various sectors and made all the difference. In recognition of these contributions, we are proud to announce the launch of our annual ‘Woman of the Year’ awards which will take place for the first time in December 2024. Be sure to keep up with every edition, womanthismonth.com and our official social media accounts for updates!

On that note, I’m sure we can all agree that the women we grow up to be is inspired largely by our mothers. I know I am! They put their heart and soul into our upbringing, and so it’s only fair on March 21 (mark your calendars) that we show our affection towards them. You can find inspiration for gifts in our guide.

Keeping our finger on the forever beating pulse of fashion, we bring you some inspiration for your formal wear with IZEL. We have also put together a fantastic collection of beauty essentials for when you’re in need of some TLC!

This month, in our Parenting section, Ouiam El Hassani guides you on when it’s best to go through your child’s phone. Meanwhile, Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst Fifi Kiwan celebrates Brain Awareness Week by sharing her tips for nurturing our cognitive abilities.

Seeing as this edition is quite special, our team will be hosting a grand celebration at The Art Hotel and Resort that is being sponsored by the official distributor of Porsche in Bahrain, Behbehani Motors. We would sincerely like to thank both entities for their invaluable support.

For 21 years now we have told her story, and now she’s back! We dedicate this special edition to you – our readers. Happy International Women’s Day to you all!
