ECO-FRIENDLY MAKE-UP
Bottles of cosmetic products could turn into paper instead of plastic in the future. In order to support the development and industrialisation of efficient 100-per-cent bio-based and recyclable paper bottles for liquids, paper packaging material developer BillerudKorsnäs and plastic bottles manufacturing specialist Alpla are launching the Paper Bottle Community, through their joint venture Paboco. Consumer goods manufacturers such L’Oréal and Coca-Cola Europe have already joined the initiative. The project is designed to industrially produce 100-per-cent recyclable bottles made of wood cellulose with a bio-material based barrier capable of resisting liquids, CO2 and oxygen, and suitable for liquid goods.

LAUNCHING HER PALLETTE
YouTube beauty veteran, Tati Westbrook, who is known as glamlifeguru on YouTube, is launching her own line, Tati Beauty — starting with a palette. Westbrook has been making videos for over 10 years, teaching people of all ages the tips and tricks of make-up application, advising them on which products to try. The beauty brand will kick off with a 24-pan eye shadow palette that holds four finishes: matte, glitter, sequin, and metallic. The shades include beautiful colour stories of silvers, nudes, oranges, reds, and pinks. There’s something for everyone.

ALL ABOUT INCLUSIVITY
South Asian YouTuber, Nabela Noor, is breaking boundaries yet again; this time, with a brand-new make-up collaboration with E.L.F. Cosmetics. The influencer who advocates self-love and inclusivity above all else. The E.L.F. x Nabela Noor collection, which launched in October, is all about celebrating Noor’s heritage and individual beauty. It includes four luxe-yet-affordable launches: the Beautifully You Brush Set, the Lip Cocktail Kit, the Gleaming Loose Highlighter, and the Complete Collection, which is packaged in a pretty gold make-up bag. These products are perfect for anyone out there who loves a glossy nude-brown lip and a gold-champagne highlight — and of course, colorful, kitten-soft brushes.

SMART ACQUISITION
Drunk Elephant has been acquired by Japan’s Shiseido Group for a whopping USD845 million. The Japanese parent company owns a large portfolio of beauty brands including Nars, Laura Mercier, Bareminerals, and more. The deal is set to close by the end of the year and is part of Shiseido’s push to expand its global presence. A spokesperson for Shiseido said that Drunk Elephant will be able to leverage Shiseido’s global platform and resources to expand into new and existing markets both in the Americas and internationally including Europe and Asia. In return, Shiseido will provide expertise and a unique support network, to maximise Drunk Elephant’s opportunities for growth.

AMAZON’S OWN
Amazon is expanding into own-brand skincare with Belei (a combination of the words ‘believe’ and ‘beauty’). Along with sustainability at the heart, the sleek packaging looks great and is 100-per-cent recyclable, but it’s also ticking off all the ingredients and products people are searching for right now. Each of the 19 products is dermatologist-approved and range from cleansers to hydrating SPF day creams, intensive night creams and even specific products for ultra senstive skin. Everything has been formulated without parabens, fragrances, sulphates or phthalates and nothing has been tested on animals, either.
