Italian Jewellery Company Pomellato has stepped up its efforts to raise awareness as it marks today’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women with a dedicated social media campaign.

Across the world, violence against women and girls has undergone an alarming resurgence during the COVID-19 pandemic, with domestic abuse hotlines reporting up to 30 per cent more calls than usual. One in three women experience physical or sexual violence during their lifetime – usually by an intimate partner – a number that has been only aggravated by confinements affecting half of the world’s population.

A champion of women’s rights, Pomellato founded the #PomellatoForWomen platform with ambassadors including Jane Fonda and Cate Blanchett, promoting equality and inclusivity.

In April 2020, alarmed by the resurgence of domestic abuse during lockdown, Pomellato launched an awareness campaign and crowd-funding initiative to support women victims of domestic violence for this ‘crisis within a crisis.’

Pomellato kick-started the initiative with a large donation of €100,000 to the D.i.RE network of anti-violence centres and to the CADMI women’s shelter in Milan, intended for the immediate aid of women victims of abuse.

Today more than ever, Pomellato stands up and speaks out on behalf of female victims of violence and has called onn its followers to also make a difference by donating to CADMI.

Pomellato has reinforced that it will never be silent until the violence stops.
