Happy New Year one and all. I hope you’ve enjoyed the festivities so far and are looking forward to a very bright 2017. If, like me, your everlasting New Year’s resolution is to get fit and perhaps lose a few kilos, then you’ve come to the right place.
Our big feature this month is all about fitness with words of wisdom from boot camp guru Paul Hamblin as well as tips on clean eating and our hot list of classes we hope to see in Bahrain in the coming months – to say I’m excited about the prospect of rowing taking over from spinning, would certainly be an understatement.
Our interviewees this month are all inspiring women who share with us their passions. Lynne Al-Wazzan has done so much for charity that there is an award named after her; Nina Mommsen is fast gaining a name as one of the island’s most popular photographers; and Irina Averinos has turned her art into a way of life. Together they bring us a positive New Year message that nothing is impossible; if you want it, just go for it.
With the kids currently off school on their winter break, our Parenting section includes a round-up of activity camps to keep them busy and we also have a new columnist this month, Ouiam Charkani El Hassani. She’s perhaps better known as the face and words of popular blog Chanelmama and she’ll be giving us monthly insights into life with her little boy and the things mums love, and sometimes don’t love, about Bahrain.
With winter most definitely upon us, our travel section is all about skiing and, of course, apres ski. I must admit, reading through those pages did give me serious piste envy, not least because it’s an excuse to dress up in some seriously gorgeous cool weather gear, as featured in our fashion pages. If you’re travelling this winter, we’d love to hear about your adventures.
As always we have our regular round-up of beauty news, things to do and food to try and, in the spirit of ‘New Year, New You’, I’ve even shared my own favourite smoothie recipes. Hope you enjoy trying them.
