Turn Back Time

Probably my favourite of this season’s trends. Designers have come over all retro, harking back to the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s (and thankfully leaving out the ‘80s, the ‘decade that style forgot’) and there were some fabulous looks in this vein on the spring-summer runways. Gucci sent models out in psychedelic prints, Loewe and Rubeus Milano were channeling bell-bottoms to the max and Paule Ka took inspiration from one of the original supers with skintight sweaters and mini skirts in clashing pinks and reds.

This trend is super-easy to wear, the trousers are the forerunner on our beloved bootcuts; made to make your legs look longer. And the smart, ‘70s-style pants and skirt suits are ideal for a working wardrobe. For an awesome summer vibe, head back that little bit further with Dolce & Gabbana’s blowsy ‘50s prints and head scarves. And, if you just want to chill out, psychedelic summer kaftans never go out of style.
