With summer in full swing, it’s time to show off your bikini body with a little help from LPG Endermologie treatment, writes Apple Sharma

Having given up smoking only a few months ago, for the first time in my life I’ve started to struggle with losing weight, rather than putting it on! So, I’ve been hitting the gym hard to shed those additional unwanted kilos.

I was hoping the hot, sultry weather of Bahrain would come to my rescue and I might perspire the extra pounds off, but we all know that’s wishful thinking as it does little to that effect. Instead, what did land in my lap was an LPG session at Dessange Paris Bahrain, about which I was both excited and apprehensive as I prefer doing things the old-fashioned way – burning calories by exercising and eating right.

At the spa, my lovely therapist, Chenda, enlightened me on the procedure – a 100 per cent non-invasive, completely natural and pain-free mechanical massage that stimulates the natural breaking down of fats to re-sculpt the figure, smooth cellulite, firm the skin and slim fat cells.

After quickly signing a consent form, I was introduced to the LPG machine, which had what looked like a mini vacuum cleaner hose with a head on it. I imagined it would magically make me slimmer, get rid of cellulite and tone my body. I did, however, think it was too good to be true to achieve this in a single 35-minute session.

Chenda proceeded to take my measurements, starting with my arms, chest, waist, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, calves and ankles. She then helped me don an endermowear – a stretch bodysuit that provides essential support for lipo-zoning, easy manoeuvring, optimum tissue grabs and maximum hygiene.

With repeated sessions, LPG promises significant inch loss and offers different types of Lipomassage treatments including Android for upper body/ apple type; Gynoid for lower body/ pear type; and Shorty for waist, stomach, buttocks, thighs and saddle bags.

Chenda suggested the latter for me and punched in the programme. Visual instructions for the massage popped up on the screen, and I could see exactly which parts she would be concentrating on. She started on my right side, moving the head in a rolling in and out action, combined with circular motions. I switched sides, and then lay on my front and back, as she continued focusing on all the hot spots.

I have a very low threshold for pain and, to my relief, it didn’t hurt at all. Only in certain sensitive parts I felt the skin pull a little, which gave me a slight tingling sensation. In fact, I found the whole process fairly relaxing.

Chenda explained that although this was a great procedure for toning and reducing cellulite, it was also essential to undergo the treatments alongside an exercise programme.

Two to three sessions per week with a gap of one or two days are recommended for the best possible results. Most people see benefits in six to eight sittings, with optimum results after 12, combined with exercise.

You can opt for a classic (which is what I tried) or an express treatment. For those interested in looking younger, there’s also Endermolift for the face, boasting anti-ageing redensification, firming and detox benefits.
