Miss Universe Bahrain 2022: Evlin Khalifa takes the crown

Model, pianist and now Miss Universe Bahrain, Evlin Khalifa have beaten out six other finalists in the Miss Universe Bahrain pageant.

The 24 -year-old model who is half Russian and half Bahraini and hails from Riffa.  When asked in the final Q&A segment, “When do you think a woman becomes empowered?” Her response was: “I think a woman becomes empowered when she knows herself, when she knows her values, and when she knows what she is capable of. An empowered woman is a role model of the people and whose actions lead to success. And I’m here to be that woman to lead all the people to success and believe in themselves.”

The Miss Universe Bahrain competition culminated in an online series that lasted eight episodes on Youtube which was shot and filmed in the region.

Eighteen-year-old Lujane Yacoub won first runner-up and and a tie at second runner-up was Mariam Naji from Raffi and Shereen Ahmed from Manama.

In an interview with Arab News Khalifa said  “My main purpose in life is to find success (and) to believe in myself because I struggled a lot with this problem in my life. And I realised that whenever you believe in yourself, you can achieve anything. And I want to say to everybody watching to believe in themselves as well just as how me and my sisters believed in ourselves,” said Evlin in an interview.

The Miss Universe Bahrain winner will see her compete in the Miss Universe global pageant set to take place in 2023 where Harnaaz Sandhu of India will crown her successor at the end of the event.

Miss Universe Bahrain winner 2021, Manar ‘Jess’ Nadeem Deyani made headlines when partook in the pageant and chose not to wear a bikini during the swimsuit portion of the competition.

This year’s edition of the pageant paid homage to the country’s rich pearl-diving history.
