Born and raised in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Sonali Thadani’s sense of ambition, vibrant personality and skillset has led her to be the CEO of Baby Essentials and Director of Marketing at St. Christopher’s School, Bahrain. When asked to tell us about herself, she says: “I have lived most of my life on this gorgeous island. I am mum to three beautiful children and am married to my best friend.” Let’s take a walk in her shoes!

Name three things you are currently looking forward to.
The summer holidays; (1) road-tripping through California, (2) spending quality time with my family, and (3) shopping!

What’s the achievement you are most proud of?
When I first started Baby Essentials as a small home business, it was with the sole purpose of making sure that first-time parents had somewhere to turn to for “real mum” advice and where they could buy trusted, high-quality gear that would actually help their babies. Over the last seven years, we have built a beautiful community of mums and dads who genuinely trust us with their babies – I am so immensely proud of that.

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
The most profound advice I have ever heard is that “You cannot pour from an empty cup.” Only if you are healthy and happy, then you can be of service to those around you.

What’s your favourite food?
Sushi and Mexican

At karaoke, your go-to song is…
I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack

What’s a movie you never get tired of?
Any classic Disney movie!

What fascinates you most in life?
I adore watching the process of someone actualising a dream. We, as humans, are capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for. People who empower themselves to overcome their fears, grow and achieve “the impossible” are incredibly awe-inspiring to me.
