The temperatures are rising, and you know what that means – it’s time for some fun in the sun! Farah Baig brings you her top picks this summer to get you ready for your next dreamy vacation, staycation or party weekend.

There’s no feeling quite like soaking up the sun on a hot summer’s day. While most people head indoors, few things make me happier than a summer getaway at a coastal town, or a beach day with friends and family.

A great pair of sunnies, a chic bathing suit, beach bag, cute flip flops and summer dress are essential in my books. Here are some of the trendiest pieces from regional and international designers, available in stores or online.

Matches has launched an exclusive 22-piece capsule collection (featured on the cover in an image by photographer Gabriel Ponton) with Kika Vargas through which the designer reimagines her signature voluminous dresses and separates in vibrant floral prints in addition to balancing single-tone pieces. Vargas draws inspiration from her Colombian heritage and bold, art and architecture-inflected perspective. The colour palette reflects the local flora and fauna of Bogotá with lush foliage-like green – the right vibe this summer.

Another excellent addition to your summer wardrobe is Tutti & Co’s luxurious resortwear which are made with quick-drying fabric. The UK brand’s collection pays tribute to the natural colours and textures of its coastal landscape with these head-turning co-ords that are even ideal for a stroll in the city.

True must-haves this summer are the stylish one-piece swimsuits and elegant cover-ups inspired by the sunset from regional swimwear brand Ya Omri. The GCC-based brand’s 2023 collection has an impeccable fit which flatters all shapes and sizes.

At the very top of my wishlist is the chic and versatile ‘Tiger Tote’ collection from the luxury leatherware brand, Tiger Marrón. The totes effortlessly are spacious and lightweight, and are available in four variants: Mama (Large), Youth (Mid), and Cub (Mini). There are four designs available with options made from vegan leather, jacquard, and canvas. If I had to pick one, though, it would have to be the Forest Tiger design in pristine white. I can picture it going beautifully with pastel, bright or monochromatic tones. So versatile!

Better Together!
It’s a time-tested rule of fashion: The accessories can make or break an outfit. Pairing your summer dress or bathing suit with the right accessories will have you feeling truly powerful.
And as I always say, every summer, to willing listeners – don’t forget to protect your peepers! Check out my favourite sunglasses from the SS23 collections of the iconic brands, Burberry and Miu Miu, for some inspiration. Have a fantastic summer!

For the prefect basket bag and oppulent shoulder bags, Kurt Geiger’s collaborative capsule collection with iconic British designer, Matthew Williamson will get you ready for high summer. The 80-piece collection consists of a curation of bags and accessories, shoes, swimwear, and jewellery and vibrant sandals. A trio of hues run deep through every design – turquoise and emerald tones, reminiscent of Matthew’s current home – Mallorca, that evoke the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, warm burnt orange tints peppered with rich aubergine, inspired by the ruggedly seductive sun-baked landscape, and finally the iconic Kurt Geiger multi-colour iteration, a kaleidoscope colour burst.
