Adele – The Girl Done Good!

Superstar singer Adele has been in the news of late, but this time it’s not for another multi-award-winning album. Instead, gossip columnists and fans have been concentrating on the mum of one’s amazing weight loss transformation.

There has been much speculation as to what’s behind it. Could this be a revenge body we see before us? After all, Forbes reported last year that there could be up to $180 million on the table in her no-prenup divorce from ex-husband Simon Konecki, but details of the final settlement have been sealed.

Or could it, as claimed by her former London-based trainer, Pete Geracimo, be more about getting healthy. In an Instagram post, he said: “When Adele and I started our journey together, it was never about getting super skinny. It was about getting her healthy.

Especially post pregnancy and post surgery. When 25 dropped and [with] the tour announced, we had to get ready for a 13-month gruelling schedule.”

It’s been claimed she worked with celeb chef, Jason Harley, and fitness guru to the stars, Harley Pasternak, to drop the reported 44kg – would that we call all have such a support network!

But, let’s face it, and I can certainly say this from personal experience, weight loss, whether achieved through diet and exercise, surgery, pills or otherwise, is very definitely no picnic (food pun absolutely intended).

Her transformation has been dramatic and she is clearly proud of what she has achieved. The fact that it’s been commented on and debated the world over is no surprise. While nobody can, or should, be considered public property, the woman did share her pics with her 36.8 million Instagram followers!

There have been hints in earlier pictures and the singer has lost weight before. But, this time, it was her birthday and she was saying thanks for all the birthday love as well as thanking all the frontline workers who are keeping us safe in these strange times.
The fact that so many people commented on her weight loss and how great she is looking has been slated, with Twitter’s most-liked Tweet of the week coming from fan @ghoulets, who said: “Adele has always been attractive, you’re just all fatphobic.”

Another publicly wondered why it is only now that she is being hailed as beautiful, accomplished and an inspiration.

I find that one a bit odd since there is no doubt Adele has always been a good looking, hard-working, inspirational woman; she has been much lauded as such and her accomplishments speak for themselves.

This is just the latest in a long line of achievements, so, why should she not be congratulated on it?

So, to Adele, from all at WTM:
Congratulations on getting slim, fit and healthy. Also, on the 15 Grammys, nine Brit Awards, 18 Billboard Music Awards, five American Music Awards, two Ivor Novello Awards and, of course, the Oscar, not to mention the 60 million worldwide album sales and counting.
Think we can say the girl has indeed done good!
