“In 2018, we saw the hair industry embrace bold new colourful shades, baby bangs and lots of volume. In 2019, we are set to see the return of some old favourites, including high ponytails and curtain bangs, and the introduction of new techniques such as halo-lights.”

Curtain Bangs
This iconic 1970s’ look, inspired by Brigit Bardot, is set to make a comeback. Curtain bangs are similar to a regular fringe, but with an inverted V in the middle, similar to how curtains hang. The center-parted layers work with any length of hair, particularly with medium-length hairstyles. Alexa Chung pulls off this look perfectly.

High Ponytail
Inspired by the likes of Ariana Grande, Bella Hadid and Kim Kardashian, a very high slick ponytail is set to make an appearance throughout 2019. The key to recreating this look is to blow dry your hair in the direction you want the base of the ponytail to be. Then tie up the top section of your hair and smooth back. Once you have done this, add the rest of your hair. You can use hairspray and a toothbrush to make it look extra-sleek.

Halo Lights
You have most likely heard of highlights and low lights, but halo lights are quickly becoming the best way of creating a show-stopping blonde. Colour is applied through the top layers and placed around the halo section of the head, creating those angelic Victoria’s Secret-style locks.

Wet Look
This is a very high-fashion look which, although may it appear easy as if you have just stepped out of the shower, actually takes a lot of styling. To recreate this look, start with damp hair and use a styling gel to your roots and brush through. Finish this look off with a glossing spray.

Accessories
In 2018 we saw hair accessories ruling the runway, and glamorised by Kate Middleton, and the trend is not sent to die down. From head scarves to pins, hair accessories are going to a big trend in 2019.
