In the early 2000s, I was part of a small team nurturing the idea of a women’s lifestyle magazine in Bahrain, Woman This Month. Over two decades later, life brought me back to this resilient publication – this time, to help launch something truly special: the Woman of the Year Awards.
Last year, it was inspiring and humbling to interview 130 remarkable women from the 414 nominations received, allowing our jury to shortlist the top three in each of our 17 categories. The public voting phase added extra vigour and excitement to the awards, transforming it into a community event.
We followed the success of the awards with the launch of the Woman This Month Show, a video podcast series that captured the stories of our winners for posterity. Watch the podcast series on our YouTube channel @womanthismonth
This year, the awards programme is stronger, with UNIDO ITPO Bahrain joining as strategic advisers, enhancing our credibility and reach. In this edition, meet our esteemed panel of jury assessing the nominees this year.
We’ve also introduced a new category: Women in the Orange Economy, celebrating contributions in creative industries.
