Maya Bannout – In Her Shoes

Lauren Hutton famously said that fashion is what you’re offered four times a year by designers, but style is what you choose. Journalist and Fashion Editor, Maya Bannout, has a personality that is as refreshing and inspiring as her sense of style. We take a peek into the wonderful creative’s life this month.

Name 3 things that you never leave the house without.
My optical cat eye glasses, they are timeless and suit my face. Geometric frames are trendy now, so I will try them soon!
Tinted lip balm, it gives an elegant glossy appearance during the day.
My warm floral fragrance.

What are your top 5 fashion essentials?
A simple white shirt with nice buttons, effortlessly worn with everything.
Black high heels escarpin.
Double breasted blazer.
An A-line, knee length skirt always finds a way into my winter wardrobe.
A long Sautoir necklace – nice with a turtle neck top this season.
If I want to add one more piece, it will be my blue skinny jeans (A must-have Momiform).

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
“There is nothing wrong with a little adventure so don’t be afraid to try new things”. I would like to cook with a professional pastry chef in Paris!
I also love Diana Vreeland’s fashion sayings. It’s very true that: “The only real elegance is in the mind. If you’ve got that, the rest really comes from it”.

Are you much of a traveller? What’s your dream destination?
Travelling turns you into a storyteller, especially when you meet great designers and passionate perfumers.
My dream destination will remain my home country – Lebanon. I would like to go there every morning just to hug my mother and smell each Jasmine in her garden.

Any phobias?
I just have normal fears. Treatable!

Cats or dogs?
I don’t have time to take good care of an animal at this time, but I would like to have a miniature poodle for my daughter and son in the future.

Tells us something about yourself that not many people know.
I’m not vegan when it comes to Japanese food.
