This month we met with Kawthar Lanbari, the Director of Sales at Crowne Plaza Bahrain, an IHG Hotel. She is a woman who is inspired and inspires. Let’s take a walk in her shoes!
What’s the most uplifting quote you have ever come across?
I’d rather say a “philosophy” that always keeps me motivated and uplifts my spirit: Life is 99 percent our making. I believe this is so true! The way we deal with things, how we choose to see our reality, the perspectives that we adopt, our way of thinking and our habits are all 100 percent under our control and only 1 percent is what life brings to us.
Do you have any pets?
I love animals though I don’t have any for the simple reason of not wanting to commit to taking daily care of them, and it would be so selfish to have one just because I’d feel lonely sometimes. If I could, I’d love to have tiny pets like cats or a teacup dog.
Friday brunch or late-night dinners?
I’m not a person of routine, hence you can really find me with both clubs, a morning bird and a night owl.
What is your dream holiday destination?
I love tropical places like Bali and Hawaii as I love the happy vibes of the sun, beach and sands. However, I’m planning to spend a couple of days in a caravan and enjoy waking up to the beauty of Europe’s mountains.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I love all kinds of art which are all forms of self-expression. I do abstract painting, from time to time, I bake and I love styling outfits!
Who do you consider to be your role model?
The Guru of Corporate Leadership, Simon Sinek, and the most impactful spiritual teacher I’ve listened to, Sadhguru, are two that inspire me. However true inspiration for me comes from people in our reality. There is one person that I consider my role model who is the closest person to me and my mentor for several years, who introduced me to many life-changing concepts and equipped me with the best possible tools to succeed, continuously and generously. This person is a true warrior and sets the example of success, leadership, discipline, fitness, self-development and emotional intelligence that I would like to reach one day.
A long-term goal of yours is:
I do have professional goals, personal goals and leadership goals. However, whatever the formula is, I’d love to remain optimistic no matter what. To me, life is all about that journey and not about the goal, and I really try to maintain that infinite mind-set in all aspects of my life.
