Bleu Turquoise and Bleu Lazuli, La Collection des Terres Précieuses, Armani Privé. These two new scents cross borders infusing Italy, the heart of Giorgio Armani’s creativity, with India’s spirit. Interrelated, they are like two facets of the same land – rich and woody infused with key notes drawn from the scent of incense and Indian spice markets. The perfumes are inspired by a voyage, from darkness into light through an interplay of ’light’ and ‘dark’ notes of vanilla and salt, tobacco and maté tea leaves, combined with osmanthus flower to give a rich depth. Italy is expressed through subtle nuances of pink peppercorn, of bergamot and the salt of the Mediterranean.

Microbeads banned. A UK-wide ban on the manufacture of cosmetics and care products containing tiny pieces of plastic known as ‘microbeads’ has come into force. The Daily Mail reports that the move is aimed at protecting the marine environment from one source of plastic pollution, as microbeads are washed down the drain and can enter the seas and be swallowed by fish and crustaceans, with potentially harmful effects. Manufacturers of cosmetics and personal care products will no longer be able to add the tiny plastic pieces to rinse-off toiletries such as face scrubs, toothpastes and shower gels, and research shows some manufacturers have already removed them.
