Spoil Me Silly

As women of the 21st century, we work, support our spouses, care for our families, maintain a social life and find the time to strive for our dreams. We don’t, however, have the time to wait around until somebody decides to spoil us — especially since we can just do it ourselves. This month, as the New Year approaches make time for you.

Relax your senses
One of the best ways to pamper yourself is a day out at the spa. If your job involves sitting at a desk all day working on a computer, then you are bound to have some tight knots around your neck and shoulders. Nothing a good back massage can’t fix though, and why not add a nice foot rub while you’re at it. If you want to try something you never had before, go for a Moroccan bath. You may think that sitting in a tub while someone scrubs you down is unusual but that resulting squeaky clean skin is well worth it.

A new you
When you look good, you feel good. A great way to change your mood and get excited for the New Year is to get a makeover. Nothing drastic of course, a simple hair cut or colour change can do you wonders. Pair this with your spa treatment in the same day and you will feel recharged, appreciated and ready to take on the world in no time.

Work it out
Have you always wanted to get back into shape but can’t seem to find the time? Treat yourself to a year’s worth of gym membership so you won’t make any excuses and come summertime, you will be leaner than ever. Exercise not only keeps you fit but also stimulates your brain and is a great mood booster. The gym is also a great way to meet new people and socialise with other women who share your interests.

Go big or go home
You’ve been working hard all year to bag that promotion, and what better way to pat your own back than to treat yourself to a big-money purchase; you know you deserve it. This year could be the time to invest in the car of your dreams, just make sure you check out all your options and go with the choice that is right for you.

Show me your jewels
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend. It’s true, but gold and pearls can be her good pals too. Whatever your preference, there is nothing wrong with spoiling yourself with a little bling. Get classic, simple pieces that won’t go out of trend.

All about aroma
Many believe that fragrances can help you create your own identity. Since smell is one of the most powerful senses, we agree. Head down to your favourite mall and spritz away until you find a perfume that best lifts your mood.

Shop until you drop
Let’s admit it. If we women had to choose our favourite pastime without the worry of being judged, we would all go with shopping. There is probably no better way to treat yourself than by going all out on a shopping spree, and what better time to do so than when the season is changing. Just think about it — boots, scarves and sweaters. Take a friend with you to keep your credit card in check.

Get away
Who says you need a partner or spouse for an exotic getaway? Grab your girlfriends and plan an exciting fun-filled weekend escape. Treat yourself to a short break from your daily routine. Trust us, you will come back energised and with a new perspective. How about a nice relaxing resort in Dubai or a ski trip to snowy Jordan?

A new crib
Do you constantly look through interior design blogs and dream of imitating their looks? Well, why not? It’s time to recreate that celebrity closet you’ve been drooling over. If you have a limited budget, then simple tricks like colourful throw pillows or a new rug can also do the trick. Whatever your decorating ideas may be, changing up the environment around you is a great way to embrace a new year.

A night out
Are you slaving away with a new diet? Giving yourself a break once in a while not only satisfies the foodie in you, but it can also accelerate your weight loss efforts. This month, use your ‘cheat’ day as an excuse to indulge into a fine dining experience instead of getting a takeout from a fast-food venue. Go to your favourite restaurant and don’t forget to dress to the nines.
