Some kids can be difficult eaters early in the morning so it is nice to have some creative, yummy and healthy breakfast solutions. Ghada Salem shares some smoothie ideas.

Smoothies are a breakfast quick-fix usually packed with fruit goodness, vitamins and calcium. A good start for the day. You can also sneak in a few greens and healthy grains by disguising the taste with fruit. If your kids are dairy free, there are still plenty of recipes to choose from that will deliver the same positive effect. Whenever possible, use fresh and organic ingredients to ensure maximum nutrition. Here are some recipes all prepared in the same way, by putting all the ingredients in a blender and blending until very smooth.

BLUEBERRY AND BANANA

1/2 cup almond milk
1 vanilla Greek yogurt
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1 frozen banana
1/4 cup raw, uncooked oats
1/4 tsp lemon zest
1/2 cup ice cubes
Mango and Carrot
Ingredients:
2 cups frozen mango chunks
1 cup fresh carrot juice
1 cup freshly-squeezed orange juice
1/4 cup fresh mint

SPINACH AND FRUITS
Ingredients:
100g fresh baby spinach
1 orange
1 banana
5 strawberries
Handful of crushed ice

STRAWBERRY AND BANANA
Ingredients:
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 cup strawberries
1 banana
1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
1 tsp chia seeds

AVOCADO AND KIWI
Ingredients:
1 banana, peeled and chopped
1 kiwi, peeled and chopped
½ avocado, peeled and chopped
1 handful fresh baby spinach leaves
1 cup almond milk
1 tsp chia seeds
1 tbsp honey

BANANA AND DATES
Ingredients:
2 medium bananas, peeled
5 seedless dates, chopped
¼ tsp cinnamon powder
1 cup almond milk
½ tsp flaxseed powder -optional-
½ cup ice
