A Silver Lining
Reading about the Palm Association in the December issue of WTM, it made me stop and think how Jennifer Sale and Kirsti Shaheen, 15 years ago, decided they wanted to do something for the less fortunate and made sure this idea became a reality. In those pre-social media days it would have taken much longer to spread their message but they remained undeterred. Of course they received help from Shaikha Lulwa bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, but the ground level legwork would have required much determination and patience. And today, many projects, fund-raisers and happy faces later, they must be so proud of the robust charitable organisation that they have set up. Honestly there have been so many instances when I thought of doing something similar, but something or other took priority on my to-do list. I truly applaud Jennifer and Kirsti for their efforts and achievements.

Ladies We Loved
January-2016__Letters2I really enjoyed reading this article; you covered women from all fields. From philanthropist Michelle Bailey to Manar Al-Rayes who is excelling in business, star-blogger Georgina, PR and HR front runners Leslie Garduque and Nacira Ferdjoukh and artist Gaye Bentham and many more. It’s really inspiring to read their stories about how they got started, what kept them going and what they plan to do in the coming year. We need to celebrate their success and that of many other women who are just as hardworking and exemplary as your chosen ladies. It’s really nice to see that women in Bahrain have a platform such as Woman This Month that recognises them and shares their achievements.

Save the Date
I would really like to thank WTM team for putting together the events page, especially for all the Christmas tree lightings listed on it. Each year I try to visit them with my kids (five and eight years) but miss out on many events as I’m usually not sure of the dates. This year, although a lot of hotels decided to do it on the same day (December 1) we could plan ahead as to which ones we wanted to attend and which to miss. Here’s wishing you all a great Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
