I for one do not endorse the idea of ‘independence lost’ when you slip that ring on; however taking a trip with my girlfriends is a welcome idea any day, especially if it’s a hen getaway. Here are some ways you can celebrate your remaining days of singledom with your gals.
I Heart New York
If you hear smooth jazz when you as much as see a NYC post card, you know you’re a Manhattan kinda girl. And it doesn’t get more ‘single gal central’ than New York. Think Carrie Bradshaw. (If the name doesn’t ring a bell, we have a problem!)
She and her single friends have painted a glorious picture of an urban jungle, where possibilities are endless, style and fashion are paramount, and great shoes are indispensable. Let’s not forget the idea of Mr Big that reduces all Mills and Boon heroes to mere wannabes.
You’ll have a lot to do — from shopping together and watching Broadway musicals to visiting restaurants and clubs that could only exist in The Big Apple and spending time in Central Park. Do not miss the Sex and The City bus tour. They even go past Carrie’s apartment!
A Continental Escape
The perfect time to evoke that secret pact with your buddies to hit the road once you’ve all saved up enough is when one of you is about to step out of Singleville. The perfect destination? Europe!
Make sure you carry minimum baggage. You’ll be backpacking with frequent stopovers and you’re going to have extra luggage on your flight back.
Start this journey from London, traversing the fashion district. Don’t miss the night clubs and numerous cultural sites. The next stop is Paris, which is a train journey away from King’s Cross Station.
Once you hit mainland Europe, the most fun way to travel would be to hire a car, get a map and cruise along these quaint countries that are full of scenic beauty, immensely rich heritage and culinary wonders that you’ve only read about. A suggestion — as much as you’d like to go with the flow, get an itinerary in order and set aside at least two weeks if not more for this holiday.
Sun and Sand Senoritas
If surf and sunshine is what works for you and your girls, then head to the glamorous seaside haven of Los Cabos. This world-class travel destination lies at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, with a 20-mile stretch of beaches and luxurious resorts that connects them. A favourite amongst Hollywood bigwigs, its laid-back nightlife scenario and old-fashioned fun in the sun are the main lure.
An ‘all girls’ holiday is a special occasion, calling for a fabulous hotel; there are many in this paradise. Explore the region’s two dramatically distinct personas. Tranquil San Jose del Cabo retains the look and vibe of an authentic Mexican town. Rambunctious Cabo San Lucas, on the other end of the highway is party central with funky bars. Make sure to get a few group pictures wearing local attire or at least a sombrero!
