Just when we thought we might have seen the back of them, florals are back on the map! Ditsy prints, abstract images or colourful appliqués — anything goes in the flower section.
Go Flower Power
Just when we thought we might have seen the back of them for a while, floral prints have wormed their way back onto the map. This year, almost anything goes, but if you’re fashion savvy you’ll know that pretty doesn’t always make perfect. Instead of heading for the usual Laura Ashley or Cath Kidston-esque designs, why not try something a little different.
This year, designers have branched out a little, some of them going for abstract prints, others adding a distressed touch to a normally dainty and pretty floral design. We really appreciated the Christopher Kane floral appliqué coat dress. It’s slightly kooky and mad, we’ll admit, but there’s something fun about it.
There’s also been a big surge in the use of photographic prints. This has an instantly modernising effect. Check out the Dries Van Noten runway to see what we mean.
