Make-up and hair styles from the fashion shows are the inspiration for our real-life looks. This season, beauty experts tell us to concentrate on our eyes and tresses.

The Neat Plait
Braids are an old favourite; this season you can practise your braiding skills. Depending on the way they are styled, plaits can be casual or sophisticated. It’s the perfect choice for those days when your hair needs a wash, but you have no energy to wake up early. Marc by Marc Jacobs sported thin pigtails. Temperley London went for classic thick side braids.

The Long Lashes
Eyes are definitely the centre of attention this season. Long, beautiful lashes have become mandatory. Forget about smoky eyes and concentrate on having stand-out lashes. Be minimal with eye shadows; give your eyeliner the supporting role. Don’t forget to highlight lower lashes as well. Gucci created dreamy eyes for their runway show. Prada clumped up the lashes to make a statement.

The Dark Touch
The one certainty in the beauty world is that black will always be in season. The difference is in the way it is applied. For this autumn and winter, creativity is the key. Eye shadows can be brushed on as a painting, as seen in the Lanvin show. Junko Shimada combined the eyeliner with eye shadow to create a graphic effect. Zac Posen opted for feathery elements.

The It Eye Shadow
Inspired by the ‘70s, designers decided that it was time to revive the bright blue eye shadow. However, to blend it into present day styles, you must remember not to cover the whole lid. Be careful with this tone. Pick vivid or pastel shades and apply them as eyeliner. A thicker line makes your eyes pop. Kenzo and Dior catwalks show you how it’s done!
