The new department at this stalwart medical institution can help boost your confidence and self-esteem by enabling you to flaunt a perfect body.

The need for an ideal body is a recent trend in this competitive age, thanks to the widened exposure people have to advanced technology and communication. Although numerous cultures make up the world, globalisation has made it possible for everyone to follow the latest lifestyle trends.

Also, shifting mindsets about ageing have compelled people to challenge the natural changes the body goes through with time, to look far more youthful than their chronological age might dictate.

The goal of cosmetic surgery is to improve a person’s appearance and, thereby, self-esteem, by enhancing their looks. It can be performed on any part of the face or body.

Aesthetic treatments include surgical and nonsurgical procedures that enhance and reshape the body’s structures to improve one’s appearance and poise. Healthy individuals with a positive outlook and realistic expectations are appropriate candidates. Plastic surgery is a personal choice and should be done for self-affirmatiom – not to meet someone else’s expectations or to try to fit into an ideal image. Because it is elective, cosmetic modifications are usually not covered by health insurance.

Some of the common procedures for women are Botox, fillers for the face, breast augmentation and reduction, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), liposuction for body contouring, buttock lifts and implants, vaginoplasty and fat grafting amongst others.

Men usually opt for Botox, fillers, hair transplantation, gynaecomastia excision (removal of overdeveloped breasts), liposuction, abdominoplasty and penile implants.

American Mission Hospital’s (AMH’s) new plastic surgery department is dedicated to enhancing people’s physical features with the latest state-of-the-art equipment in the cosmetic medicinal field.

Plastic surgeon Dr Madhusudana Naik is a skilled expert at AMH who understands that alteration to the body’s ‘image’ is a means not only to change the way we appear, but also of shaping our psyches for more confidence and greater self-esteem.

Dr Madhu has a wide range of experience. Having completed his MBBS from Kurnool Medical College, India, in the year 2000, he worked as civil assistant surgeon for the state government of Andhra Pradesh, serving at various hospitals and carrying out basic surgeries at the primary level.

He completed his master’s in general surgery in 2010 and practised as a general and laparoscopic surgeon. His work in the field of laparoscopy and minimally invasive surgeries is prolific.

His zeal to further his skills in the fine art of surgical procedures led him to pursue a super-speciality in plastic surgery, for which he studied at one of India’s biggest and oldest institutions – the prestigious Osmania Medical College.

From 2012 onwards he has been involved in performing many reconstructive and cosmetic operations and has been instrumental in giving several patients immense happiness and satisfaction by remedying their physical shortcomings.

While working as assistant professor at Osmania Medical College up to 2017, Dr Madhu performed countless operations as well as trained several postgraduates in his sphere of expertise.
