There are celebrities who’ve lent their faces to various beauty products for cash and exposure. Then there are those who’ve helped develop their own beauty lines and swear they are the secret to their fabulous looks. Here are a few to watch out for.

Juice Beauty – Alicia Silverstone
The vegan actress partnered with Juice Beauty (a brand that formulates its products with certified organic ingredients and no unnecessary synthetic chemicals) to launch a capsule collection of certified-organic make-up and skincare products. The ‘Alicia Silverstone Collection for Juice Beauty’ is full of antioxidant-rich botanicals such as passionfruit, white tea and cucumber. The packaging is made from 95 per cent post-consumer recycled materials and the brand is cruelty-free. Look for the Chamomile Cleanser and Purely Kissable Lip Color.

Goop – Gwyneth Paltrow

Paltrow created a line called Goop (along with the website of the same name that’s sometimes come under fire) embracing her beliefs of a natural lifestyle. These products are also developed by Juice Beauty, but the whole creation is signed by the Hollywood actress. All products are nontoxic and up to 99 per cent organic. Her favourite product from the line is the Exfoliating Instant Facial with tingling, plant-based cellulose beads. Also look for the vitamin E-packed Enriching Face Oil and the Replenishing Night Cream.

Meaningful Beauty – Cindy Crawford

The brand was born from the collaboration of the supermodel and the skin specialist Dr Jean-Louis Sebagh and its aim is to bring youth-enhancing formulas to women. The products have anti-aging ingredients such as the extract of an orchid from the Emerald Coast in France that lives over 100 years. The active molecules are used to deliver energy to aging skin cells. Look for the Lifting Eye Crème – Advanced Formula.

Nuance – Salma Hayek

Salma’s grandmother was a beautician, so passion for the beauty field is in her genes. Her line, exclusively sold at the CVS pharmacy chain, includes haircare, skincare and cosmetics. Her products use mainly botanicals and antioxidants like green tea, chamomile, ginkgo biloba and the actress’ favourite ingredient, tepezcohuite. The Mexican star is also a big proponent of not testing on animals. Try out the line’s Blue Agave Wave Enhancing Styling Swirl for a perfect finish.

The Honest Company – Jessica Alba

Founded by Jessica Alba and Christopher Gavigan, the company has the ideal of developing eco-friendly, convenient and affordable products for babies and homes. The brand also has a personal care line with products such as Honest Organic Body Oil and Honest Organic Lip Balm Trio. The company is serious about sustainability and its impact on Earth, so its goal is to have all products and packaging made entirely of plant-based materials. And, though the company is facing some legal challenges over both the efficacy of the products and the fully organic claims, the ethos is still a very attractive one.
