Our take on what’s cool, trending and fashionable.

Loewe Lowdown
January-2017_Fashion_Forward1Spanish luxury fashion house Loewe has launched a self-published, phonebook-size visual history spanning its past, present and future.

The book is edited by fashion and magazine expert Luis Venegas, who was directly commissioned and given creative freedom for the project by Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson, who says: “I wanted Luis to go through our archives and decide what is relevant, with that very sharp, uncommon eye that he has. He has unearthed some incredible things that show how the language of what we’re doing at the house now, has always been there. I could not be happier.”

The launch took place at Casa Loewe in Madrid at a party attended by the great and good of the fashion world, including blogger Bryan Boy (pictured). Jealous much!

January-2017_Fashion_Forward2Happy Anniversary
MCM (Modern Creation München) has continued its 40th anniversary celebrations with a collection of boldly elegant designs inspired by the iconic creativity of its birthplace.

Looking to Munich and its opulent artistic heritage, this season’s ‘Munich Epoque’ explores the crossover between sumptuous glamour and clean minimalism through baroque-inspired patterns juxtaposed against clean yet vibrant colourways. How much do we love these little gems?

January-2017_Fashion_Forward3Fozaza goes French

French fashion brand Zadig & Voltaire is taking on Middle Eastern influences with a new partnership with Saudi-Lebanese design phenom Alanoud Badr, widely known as Lady Fozaza.

Given Alanoud’s own very individual style, it’s no wonder she’s caught the eye of the fun French label and she’s clearly a big fan, saying: “It’s a bit of rock ‘n’ roll, boho chic. It’s everything you want in one label. I love Zadig & Voltaire because it is easy to mix and it is packed so easily and you can make 500 looks with 10 accessories.”

“She is sophisticated… It is an explosive mix!” says Artistic Director Cecilia Bönström.

Cast Your Net
Fashion retailer Yoox Net-A-Porter (YNAP) is coming to the region with an online luxury retail website. Based out of Dubai, it will operate across the GCC, including Bahrain, and a new distribution centre planned means the company will be able to offer same-day delivery.

Milking It
January-2017_Fashion_Forward5Check out the new Milk Concept Store which has just opened at Riyadat Mall which offers a platform for untapped regional talent including the likes of Army of 1, Barrel and Drum, The Generous Light Co, Yabalady and lots of others who are, doubtless, on their way to becoming familiar names on our lips. The store opened in December and in the words of the organisers: “Milk, in the case of this brand, simply means a boundary-free, open-minded and a vast opportunity base for young talents thriving with potential to be well received in the fashion space.”
