Street Style at Splash
Splash Fashions has launched #InFashion, its first campaign as part of a new way forward, marking a commitment to collaboration with the community, moving the leading retailer away from its recent celebrity phase.

Spla#InFashion is inspired by Splash’s mission to forge close relationships between its consumers, telling the stories originating from the cities, streets and faces of the region, championing the freshest creative catalysts across fashion, design, music, art and sustainability. The first two faces selected to partner with Splash in this way are Tarek AlHarbi and Taim Al Falasi, who feature as part of the #InFashion campaign footage. The brand is calling out for additional faces for a direction that is powerful, expressive and that maintains a deep relevance with its consumers, evidenced in digital content, but also through new store layouts, merchandising and product displays.

One key action in recent years has been support for the environment and manufacturing chain, with Splash selling over 22.4 million sustainable products in the past five seasons.

Burberry Goes Fur-Free
Having faced a massive backlash on the announcement that it had burnt almost BD15 million worth of old stock, British brand Burberry has vowed to end the decidedly eco-unfriendly practice, which is pretty common throughout the fashion industry. And going a step further to get back into the green generation’s good books, the brand has also promised to dump real fur from its future collections, following in the footsteps of other fashion biggies such as Stella McCartney and Gucci. See www.womanthismonth.com for a comprehensive list of fur-free brands.

Modanisa was part of the opening event’s catwalk show and provided two outfits for display.

Moschino-H&M Collabo First Look
At long last, it’s here. We’ve been waiting for this one since it was launched in April and now we can show you the first pieces from the Moschino [tv] – H&M tie-up. Logos, humour, pop culture, and glamour! Moschino [tv] H&M is a high-energy collection signed by Moschino’s creative director, Jeremy Scott. It’s all about having fun, whether it’s the mania for the brand’s iconic gold logo, prints featuring Jeremy’s favourite Disney characters, a playful logo collaboration with MTV, or pumped-up Italian glamour for partying all night long. The highly anticipated ladies’ and men’s collection will launch exclusively in selected stores across the Middle East starting from November 8.

Michael Kors Buys Versace
American brand Michael Kors is in the process of buying the iconic Italian fashion house, adding to a stable which now also includes Jimmy Choo. The news was greeted with horror among some fashion snobs who fear Kors, which is rebranding under the name Capri Holdings. However, Donatella Versace will remain as creative director and told businessoffashion.com: “This is a very exciting moment for Versace,” adding that her brother Santo and daughter Allegra’s stake in Capri “demonstrates our belief in the long-term success of Versace and commitment to this new global fashion luxury group”. The acquisition is expected to be completed in 2019.

Mossy by the Book
